Formed some 30 years ago, Cranes Pond in Kegworth is a little known water just on the south side of the village. As well a stunning still water season ticket holders also enjoy access to the a joining river Soar that backs on to the lake.
A mixed fishery the lake is prefect for all abilities with a good head of silvers through to Tench and Carp.
A gated and gravelled car park with 26 permanent pegs around the lake and 15 on the a joining river access is very good. With plans for improved disabled pegged access both on the lake and river in the near future.
Fishing is dawn till dusk with 365 days a year access on the lake, the river coming under closed season laws fishing is also dawn till dusk.
With such good access on both the lake and river the venue is prefect for other groups to use the facilities. With plans for junior and adult coaching though local Angling trust coaches. Plus field trips for local groups like the club and scouts to carry out their badge passes.
Working with the Kings head AC the Angling trust and the EA the pond has seen some what of a rebound from late 2016. A long with works all ready carried out the team has set out an improvement plan to bring the fishery back to its former self.
